NEXT WEEK!

*time and venue change* ahoy Europe, hope you will be there now!

control.org presents: cycles '92-'27
27th August 2000 UTC at https://fest.nham.co.uk
live online concert as part of NHAMFest26

Brand new upcoming tracks, something from every album, the cassette era re-worked and tracks never before performed live, celebrating 35 years of the darker side of the disco.

I've been reflecting a lot over the past 6+ weeks building this show. Which makes sense given the theme and the reworking of quite old material. Working with my writing partner from the 90s on new album material to debut has been a vibe. It's no comfort that our artistic response to the world then was so fucking grim and macabre and that absolutely nothing has gotten better since. oof.

But there is something positive in the process of doing, building, and the fuel to keep fighting at least at the micro level. I'm not sure what the feeling is called but there have been a few moments at the mixing desk and on the practice stage where I felt a little ping of something that isn't just the usual pain or total dread. Odd. There is beauty in the darkness and all but fuck sake maybe an occasional ping of, I don't want to call it joy, but something like that is just fine. It's no joke when I invite you to lace up your boots and join me for a cathartic stomp. Let's shake up the neighbours and be positively angry TOGETHER!

stomp in solidarity.

Continuing on the reflection this weeks upcoming live production has spurred...

In the set list is a song originally from 1992. Young controlfreak had part time access to others' samplers and I needed more!

I worked 80 hours per week at three jobs to get my own first sampler. A brand new emax II with what I recall was an "expanded" 2MB of RAM! What absolute tanks they were to tour with.

One of the first tracks I built with it was called k-otic and had Emergency Broadcast Network style hack and chop out of context voice samples.

Then in 94 it got lyrics for touring.

Then in 97 it got different lyrics for another vocalist.

Then hibernation through my CD era.

Now in 2026 it has been rebuilt for the REGENERATE EP project and this concert. Working on new material with my writing partner from that 94 era of tracks has me super chuffed to be performing multiple revitalised versions of old stuff that we don't hate all this time later. Pretty cool.

I'm pretty vaguely open that I can't do anything musical or adjacent tech in public due to health and the time, health and resource to be able to oontz and share it is an extreme challenge.

So I do manage a smile when I can fight hard enough to make real "If I wake up tomorrow I am making music with friends."

Anywho, if you don't look at the post above, hope to see you at the https://control.org presents cycles '92-'27 in concert.

*TIME AND VENUE CHANGE*

It has been an massive job rebuilding the micro black box theatre, new tracks, prepping tracks that have never been performed live every on the almost 35 years, heaps of new backing video, heaps of hacking and taping decrepit gear. But hey, wiring on the floor of my lounge is way better than nasty club stages.

Lace upon your boots for a good cathartic stomp. Some dystopian rage. And a few laughs.
