There isn’t a proper #DiningCar on the VIA Rail 🇨🇦 train from #Churchill, MB. It’s the lower level of the #domecar that steps in as a diner. The meals, although just reheated on board, are surprisingly tasty. And the lounge, with its 1950s design, is a wonderful place to stretch out and relax.

The #skyline series #dome car clearly is the star on VIA Rail’s 🇨🇦 train from #Churchill, MB. The seats under the glass cupola offer the best views. Just like the other cars in the consist, this one comes with a #Budd designed, stainless steel car-body. It was built in the 1950s.

I’m travelling in a “Château Class” car on the VIA Rail 🇨🇦 #Churchill, MB train. What’s in a name. I booked a nice and cosy #sleeperette single mini-cabin with, almost, all the amenities, except space: a bed that slides away during the day, a sink, a toilet, and towels for the shower which is located down the corridor.

The VIA Rail 🇨🇦 train from #Churchill, MB, is hauled by two Class #F40PH locomotives. The #Budd #HEP consist includes a bag-dorm baggage car, two standard class seaters, a dome car, and a sleeper, just five cars in total.
The first stop in the morning, at dawn, is at #Gillam, 184 miles or 8.5 hours from Churchill.

VIA Rail’s 🇨🇦 train dubbed “The Hudson Bay” is seen here at #Churchill, MB station, before departure. If slow travels through remote areas are your thing, this is your train.
And since there’s no year-round road link leading up here, the train, running three times a week, is a lifeline for the local communities.

#Churchill, MB 🇨🇦 is the “Polar Bear Capital of the World“ they say. And it certainly is the polar-bear-warning-signs capital of the world, as well. At the end of the summer, these beautiful creatures start migrating south, to the Churchill area. And yes, you’d better be careful.

Beautiful #Churchill, MB 🇨🇦, right by the Hudson Bay. Summers are short up here in the North. The locals already speak of the polar bears arriving for the autumn months.

A sleeping architectural beauty: #Winnipeg 🇨🇦 Union Station. It only sees six train departures per week: twice the “Canadian”, both ways from/to #Vancouver and #Toronto as VIA Rail trains #1 and #2, and twice the “Hudson Bay”, number #693 for #Churchill, which starts from here.
Vintage passenger cars are on display at the rear of the station.
And: nice views from the hotel room, very much to the railfan’s delight. 😉

Einen Austritt von Dir zu fordern, steht niemanden zu. Wer weiß schon, wie anstrengend Deine Überzeugungsarbeit mit Deinen ParteikollegInnen bereits ist? Über den Verbleib in der Partei kannst nur Du allein eine Entscheidung treffen. Niemand hat das Recht, eine solche von Dir zu fordern.
