Hello #Lazyweb. Does anybody have a suggestion for a surprisingly-good-for-the-price set of headphones? Good enough for podcasting (rather than music production) is the target.

Edit: Wires are preferred over bluetooth, and as a general rule compatibility with >10 year old devices a distinct advantage.

#lazyweb: Ages ago there was a code editor that let you open and edit individual functions rather than entire files. I think you could also build a sort of call graph out of the functions you had open as well. Does anyone remember what that editor was, and/or if there's any contemporary alternatives?

(Yes I know about Zed multibuffers, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to just say "open function x, y, and z in a multibuffer together", it seems to just be for search/find references/etc at the moment.)

#lazyweb request: I regrettably have a need to think about the “10x developer” phenomenon of the 2010s. I recall there being a couple of somewhat pivotal articles about the idea that 10x developers end up externalising the cost of their velocity onto others in the form of cleanup and technical debt, and I think also looking at it through a gender/feminist lens.

Does anyone have those old links to hand? Most things I’ve found with a cursory search are more recent discussions where these criticisms are kind of already taken as read to an extent.

Webdesign people! Where are you finding inspiration these days? Dribbble is full of dead slop and Awwwards features sites that look identical since 2018.

I'm kind of desperate to hear how other small artist/crafter/maker online shop owners are going to deal with these new hostile EU packaging regulations. One of the biggest issues is the amount of general confusion and lack of clear solutions, with only 6 days left until the legislation starts!

I've started compiling a list of useful links and will continue doing so, but please, please share/boost for better reach! Thank you! 🙏

#DuckDuckFedi: Womit würdet ihr unter Linux einen Grundriss einer Wohnung erstellen? Gerne dann auch mit der Option, Möbel-Abmessungen an verschiedene Stellen zu packen?

Irgend ne CAD Software? Inkscape?

Am besten ohne Grundausbildung in technischem Zeichnen nutzbar ;)

Hallo Lazyweb,

ich suche ein "Balkon"-Kraftwerk, dass auf einem Ziegel-Dach installiert werden soll.
Es ist Platz genug, sollen aber wahrscheinlich 4 Module werden.

Was nehme ich da? Anker Solix z.B.?

Und wie installiere ich das auf dem Dach?

I have some experience with #Linux on servers, but not on desktops. Now I've ordered my first non-mac PC and am not sure which distro I should use. I'd like a minimal one to not have apps that I won't use and to have a chance to learn everything from the get-go.

#NixOS intrigues me, but I'm not sure if it is too advanced to start with.

Which do you use and why?
