Wikipedia:Requests for permissions

(Redirected from Wikipedia:PERM)
Requests for permissions

This page enables administrators to handle requests for permissions on the English Wikipedia. Administrators are able to modify account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, file mover, extended confirmed, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback, and template editor rights, and AutoWikiBrowser access.

Editors wishing to request a permission flag here should do so following the procedure below. Editors requesting permissions are advised to periodically revisit the requests page, as notifications will not always be given after a decision is made. Editors should not expect their request to be answered right away and should remember to be patient when filing a request. To find out what permissions your account has, go to Special:Preferences, where your permissions are listed in the user profile tab under "Member of groups".

Requests for permissions are archived regularly; please see Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Archive for an index of past requests.

Handled here

  • Account creator (add request · view requests): The account creator flag is granted to users who are active in the request an account process. The flag removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24 hour period. It also allows users to make accounts with names similar to other accounts. The account creator flag is only given to users who participate in the ACC process and may be removed without notice should a user's participation in the account creation process cease.
  • Autopatrolled (add request · view requests): The autopatrolled flag is granted to users who are active in the creation of new articles. This tool is granted so their creations are auto patrolled in Special:NewPages. Unlike other requests, any user may nominate an editor for Autopatrolled, even without that user's consent. A user who wishes to have this flag generally should have created at least 25 articles and must be trusted, experienced, and must have demonstrated they are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, especially WP:BLP and Wikipedia:Notability.
  • AutoWikiBrowser (add request · view requests): AutoWikiBrowser is a semi-automated MediaWiki editor for Windows, designed to make tedious repetitive tasks quicker and easier. It is essentially a browser that automatically opens up a new page when the last is saved. When set to do so, it suggests some changes (typically formatting) that are generally meant to be incidental to the main change. Please read the rules of use and registration requirements on the main page before requesting permission. This is not a true user right, but access needs to be granted by administrators just like other permissions. If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. Users with under 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits are rarely approved. You will need to give a reason for wanting AWB access.
  • Confirmed (add request · view requests): The confirmed flag may be granted to new users who have not yet hit the threshold for autoconfirmed status. These are users who have not had both 10 edits and 4 days experience. People with this flag can upload files and edit semi-protected pages before hitting the autoconfirmed flag. Users requesting this flag must indicate clearly why they should be exempted from the customary confirmation period.
  • Event coordinator (add request · view requests): The event coordinator user right allows editors to create multiple new accounts, and to temporarily confirm accounts so that they can create new articles.
  • Extended confirmed (add request · view requests): The extended confirmed flag is normally automatically added to accounts after 500 edits and 30 days, but may be added to legitimate alternate accounts of users that already have this access. The flag allows users to edit pages under extended confirmed protection.
  • File mover (add request · view requests): The file mover user right is intended to allow users experienced in working with files to rename them, subject to policy, with the ease that autoconfirmed users already enjoy when renaming Wikipedia articles.
  • Mass message sender (add request · view requests): Mass message sender enables users to send messages to multiple users at once. This flag is given to users who have made requests for delivery in the past, clearly showing an understanding of the guidance for use.
  • New page reviewer (add request · view requests): The new page reviewer user right allows users to mark pages as patrolled and use the page curation toolbar. At administrators' discretion, the right may be accorded on a time limited basis or indefinite.
  • Page mover (add request · view requests): The page mover user right allows users experienced in working with article names to move them, subject to policy, without leaving behind a redirect. They may also move all subpages when moving the parent page(s). General guidelines include making 3,000 edits and 6 months of editing history. At administrators' discretion, the right may be accorded on a time limited basis or indefinite.
  • Pending changes reviewer (add request · view requests): The reviewer flag is granted to users who are experienced enough with Wikipedia editing and its policies for contributing to the process of reviewing articles placed under pending changes.
  • Rollback (add request · view requests): Rollback enables users to remove vandalism much more quickly and efficiently than by undoing it. Users who do not demonstrate an understanding of what constitutes capable vandalism fighting, either because they have no or little history of doing so, or show a poor ability to discern between good and bad faith edits will not be granted this right. Also, it is unlikely that editors with under 200 mainspace edits will have their request granted. For a more detailed explanation of rollback and information about when it is appropriate to use the tool, see Wikipedia:Rollback. For information about the technical details of the feature, see here.
  • Template editor (add request · view requests): The template editor flag allows users to edit protected templates and Lua modules. General guidelines for granting include making at least 1,000 edits overall (with at least 150 to templates or modules), being a registered user for over a year, and having a record of successfully proposing significant edits to several protected templates. Users should demonstrate proficiency with template syntax and an understanding of the need for caution when editing heavily-used templates.
  • Temporary account IP viewer (add request · view requests): Temporary account IP viewers are able to view the IP address information associated with temporary accounts.

Several permissions are requested and handled elsewhere:

Review and removal of permissions

The requests for permissions process is not used to review or remove user rights:

The bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight permissions are removed at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Stewards will typically not carry out such requests unless they are made on behalf of the Arbitration Committee, by a user who is requesting their own access be removed, or in cases of an emergency.

Process

Requestors

To make a request for a permission, click "add request" next to the appropriate header and fill in the reason for wanting the permission.

Administrators

Administrators are permitted to grant account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, event coordinator, file mover, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback and template editor flags to any user who meets the criteria explained above and can be trusted not to abuse the tool(s). Administrators may either grant these permissions permanently or temporarily. For convenience, a bot will automatically comment with relevant data if the user does not meet configurable qualifications. Even if the bot does not comment, administrators should review the user's contributions and logs to ensure the tools will be used appropriately and check for any indication of potential misuse.

Once an administrator has granted a permission or decided to deny a request, they should add {{done}} or {{not done}} respectively under the request with their comments. If a user already has the requested permission, or is autoconfirmed and requesting confirmed, {{already done}} should be used. N hours after the last comment was made (as specified by the config), the request will be archived automatically: approved requests will be placed here; declined requests will go here. See User:MusikBot/PermClerk#Archiving for more information on archiving functionality.

Other editors

Requests for permissions is primarily intended for editors requesting a permission for their own account. Other editors are welcome to comment if they have specific information that is relevant to that request that a patrolling administrator is unlikely to discover for themselves. Otherwise, since only administrators can effectively respond to these requests, general comments or 'clerking' by other users are rarely helpful. Non-administrators cannot "decline" to grant a request, because they're not in a position to accept it.

A limited exception to this is Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled, where third party nominations are encouraged. Other editors should still avoid offering general remarks on requests and leave the final decision to an administrator.

Autopatrolled

I'd like to request autopatrolled rights. Since mid-July 2026, I've created 51 articles on English Wikipedia, primarily biographies of notable Iranian figures, women in history (through the WikiProject Women in Red initiative — arts, literature, theatre, sports), and military history subjects. None of my articles have been deleted.

I've worked to ensure each article is properly sourced with independent secondary sources, and I've been careful about copyright compliance, including navigating image licensing on Commons (PD-anon-70-EU, fair use rationales) for historical photographs. I've also engaged constructively with New Page Patrol feedback and talk page discussions when questions arose about sourcing or notability.

I'm familiar with Wikipedia's policies on BLP, verifiability, and notability, and plan to continue creating articles at a similar pace. I'm also happy to receive feedback if more time or a trial period is preferred. Saji talk 13:05, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply

(Non-administrator comment) I had a look at Marica Gregorič Stepančič and all but one of the sources appear to be completely irrelevant. E.g. the first source is about laryngoscopy? Helpful Raccoon (talk) 04:32, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Update: Sajjadmrt removed two of the sources after I pointed this out. Two of the remaining three are still irrelevant. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 07:46, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Thanks for catching that — you were right, a couple of the citations were mismatched (probably from translating across wikis). Fixed now, replaced with sources that actually support the text. Saji talk 07:52, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
This doesn't make any sense; none of the sources you removed are present in any inter-language editions of Marica Gregorič Stepančič and one of the two sources still doesn't support any of the text. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 08:22, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
The Žnidaršič source is a scholarly book on the history of Slovenian women (19th c. – WWII) that discusses her among other writers — it doesn't need to appear in other-language Wikipedia articles to be valid, it's an independent secondary source. Could you point to which specific sentence you think it doesn't support? Happy to add a page number or adjust the citation if needed. Saji talk 08:26, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
The book does not mention her name at all; it is plainly obvious that you are using an LLM here. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 08:34, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
If you are using LLMs to communicate here then you should stop; see WP:LLMTALK. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 08:27, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I write my own responses. that comment isn't consistent with WP:AGF. I don't need an LLM. Back to my question above: which specific sentence do you think isn't supported by the Žnidaršič source? Saji talk 09:20, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I checked the Žnidaršič book directly and her name doesn't appear in it. I've removed it. The article now cites only the Slovenska biografija source, which does directly cover her life, teaching career, publications, and pseudonyms. Let me know if you spot anything else. Saji talk 09:32, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Update: added three more independent secondary sources (Delo, Lavrenčič-Lapajne/Pahor, Primorski dnevnik) and expanded the Legacy section. Saji talk 13:09, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Not done per the sourcing issues identified in this discussion. NPP review is still necessary. voorts (talk/contributions) 17:47, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply

38 pages created. GA Lego Life, DYK Rebrickable, DYK En rejse til månen, DYKN Pym Test Kitchen, DYKN Lamplight Lounge. ~ A412 talk! 17:41, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I have a few issues with some of their articles. Planet Zoo: Arctic Pack has multiple unreliable sources (WP:VG/S), such as TheXboxHub and Impulse Gamer. Comments like this also don't fill me with confidence, as it shows they are not sure that articles they've authored meet the (admittedly stricter) notability guidelines of the WP:VG project. 23/41 of their articles are WP:STUBS, which are usually not too time-consuming for reviewers. (Whilst they did get Lego Life to GA, they did not author the article itself). My opinion obviously has little to no bearing on the decision here, but I think these factors demonstrate a need for continued second-looks, at least for the time being. Thank you for your contributions, @NewAccount7295, and for you recent participation at WT:VGRS (making an effort to learn is respectable and shows commitment to the project)! (Non-administrator comment) 11WB 💬 23:53, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I will point out that they are 88% author on Lego Life, which makes who has page creation credit rather irrelevant. ~ A412 talk! 01:26, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I don't agree. It is the original author who assesses whether a topic (in this case Lego Life) is notable. Overhauling an existing article does not demonstrate that ability, which is required for AP. Else a bunch of non-notable articles would end up in mainspace without secondary review. 11WB 💬 02:27, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@NewAccount7295, thanks for your work at DYK and your application here. I'm taking a look through your last several created pages. Can you comment on what makes RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks notable based on the sources you selected and the coverage it has right now? Dclemens1971 (talk) 18:29, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Courtesy ping @NewAccount7295 to make sure you saw my question above. Thanks! Dclemens1971 (talk) 20:14, 29 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Dclemens1971 While there are no reviews it is because the game is still upcoming and was recently announced. Articles analyzing it are linked in the sources (which you mentioned) and it is part of an already notable video game series so there is probably room for expansion. Could you elaborate a bit more on why you think it might not be notable? If you don't think it is you are welcome to nominate it at AFD. We can discuss the sources there and see other editor's opinions on it NewAccount7295 (talk) 20:30, 29 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@NewAccount7295 Here's my analysis on it. It hasn't been released yet, but like many games it gets pre-release coverage. In this case, the coverage is based on Atari's press release and promotional materials -- it has to be, since there's no game to experience or review. As a result, the coverage you've included isn't actually independent of the subject since it's solely based on information released by the game producer. Now, I'd anticipate that the game is likely to become notable once reviews trickle in, but it doesn't appear to have passed a notability guideline when you created it. (If there isn't qualifying coverage now, I'd suggest draftifying instead of AfD.) Dclemens1971 (talk) 21:30, 29 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I think @Dclemens1971's analysis is spot on. It's great that @A412 believes you have put out enough for AP, but over the past week or so, I've observed some serious issues with your knowledge of notability, @NewAccount7295. For one instance, at a recent AfD you counted a WP:VALNET source as SIGCOV when VG/S specifically makes clear that Valnet owned sources are not considered as such. My concern is that such articles based entirely on such sources could end up bypassing NPP were you to have this permission. I don't think now is the right time. This is a highly scrutinised perm and for good reason. (Sorry if this comes across as harsh, unfortunately it is the reality. You're doing great work. Keep it up in my opinion and AP can very likely be given later on.) 11WB 💬 02:18, 30 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I have been editing the English Wikipedia for over three years, with about 2,500 overall edits, and have created more than 70 mainspace articles. I regularly create sourced articles, particularly on historical, archaeological and biographical subjects. I am familiar with Wikipedia's policies on notability, verifiability, biographies of living persons, copyright and NPOV. My article creations generally do not require substantive New Page Patrol cleanup. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to reduce the New Pages Patrol workload due to existing strain. Omnipup1 (talk) 17:42, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I have started a discussion about your creations at the AI noticeboard here; it would be good if you could comment there. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 22:51, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I understand that autopatrolled is mainly about whether my new articles can safely bypass New Page Patrol. I am taking the concerns raised at AIN seriously and am going back over older articles where specific problems have been pointed out. I have commented at the noticeboard and begun reviewing three articles identified there: I have already revised Bayt al-Dhakira wal-Turath to remove redundant and over-attributed prose, and revised Hani al-Hayek's article with new material reflecting his activities since the page's creation. I would deal with the Saeed al-Amour article later this week.
I would appreciate it if this request could also be judged on the basis of my recent editing and current practice rather than examples of LLM usage from 2025 and early 2026, which predate the March 2026 change to WP:LLM. Since that time I have not used AI to generate article prose; and my LLM assistance is confined to the permitted use for translation from another-language (Arabic/Hebrew) Wikipedia for missing articles in English, with manual review and revision, with disclosure in edit summaries and/or talk pages. Omnipup1 (talk) 04:32, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
That just means that users won't be retroactively sanctioned for breaking the NOLLM guideline, old text is not "grandfathered in", and it is definitely relevant when considering granting Autopatrolled to to someone. And it is also demonstrably false that you stopped using AI after NOLLM was passed in March because Diff/1343935605 is from April, and would have violated the older NEWLLM version of the guideline as well. gurkubondinn 11:27, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Apologies, I need to correct myself here. The edit that I linked is from March (not April). gurkubondinn 11:57, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Thanks for raising this. I have commented at AIN and gone back through the three artcles mentioned there. I have already revised Bayt al-Dhakira wal-Turath and Hani al-Hayek in response to the concerns raised, and I will review Saeed al-Amour early next week as well.
I did use LLMs in some articles in 2025 and early 2026. After I recieved guidance on Wikipedia's LLM policies in March, I changed my practice and have limited LLM use to permitted purposes, mainly translation, with manual source checking, revision and disclosure.
I have been editing the English Wikipedia for more than three years, with 2,500+ edits. I would appreciate it if the request could be assessed on my recent creations and current editing practice.Omnipup1 (talk) 18:21, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Omnipup1, did you use an LLM to compose or edit your response above at 4:32 on 26 August? Dclemens1971 (talk) 18:32, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Of course not! Omnipup1 (talk) 18:50, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
It certainly read that way to me. I'll take you at your word, but the response does not give me confidence to action your request. I'll leave it here for another administrator to evaluate. Dclemens1971 (talk) 19:07, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Dear @Dclemens1971, I believe assuming good faith is key. People may need to be advised on wiki regulations they might have been ill-informed before, like I may have been with regard to early articles I've contributed, but I have since then kept a good standing with significant contributions of primarily historical/geographic, archaeological and linguistic data in a field of Levantine and Israel/Palestine related subjects which are otherwise desiderata on Wikipedia. Again, thank you and your fellow users in reviewing this request. Omnipup1 (talk) 19:22, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I am almost exclusively active in the paleontology space creating new pages for various types of fossil eggs. I've created several such articles and accepted genus and species taxa of vertebrates are automatically considered notable. Since there are still several dozen redlinks of fossil egg taxa, I am requesting autopatroll permission so as not to exacerbate the backlog of new pages as I create these articles. I have created 57 currently live mainspace pages. Ashorocetus (talk|contribs) 10:53, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hi @Ashorocetus and thank you for your creations and your request here. Autopatrolled requires holders of the permission to demonstrate that they are familiar with WP:BLP and WP:N, and your creations, while of clear high quality, do not provide evidence of that since these taxa are considered automatically notable. Furthermore, your history shows a seven-year gap in page creation before this week, and species articles are not difficult for reviewers. I also don't see any evidence of participation at AfD, which is one way to tell how you handle more nuanced areas of notability. Is there anything in your edit history you can point to that would help me or another admin evaluate your understanding of notability and BLP policy? Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:07, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Hi @Dclemens1971 Yes I haven't been so active recently, due to some changes in personal situation. You're right I actually can't provide evidence of having serious interactions with the WP:N or WP:BLP policies. I have read those pages but haven't had to deal with any nuanced case. I'd be asking you to believe I understand them solely on the basis of my positive track record as a Wikipedia editor. My reason for requesting Autopatrolled permission is, as stated above, so that I don't waste reviewers' time on the numerous new fossil egg taxa pages I intend to create in the near to mid term future. If that is indeed no real concern, then I happily withdraw my request indefinitely. Sorry for the inconvenience. Ashorocetus (talk|contribs) 16:16, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply
No inconvenience at all and thank you for applying. I have no objection if another admin wishes to grant the perm, but I don't see a need for it now. Dclemens1971 (talk) 17:06, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Not done for now, without prejudice to reapplying once you've provided a track record to show your knowledge of N and BLP. Best, voorts (talk/contributions) 17:46, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I would like to create navigation templates for groups of related articles that currently lack them and use AWB to add those templates where appropriate. I have not created navigation templates before, but I am familiar with Wikipedia’s policies and would take care to review my work and ensure edits are appropriate. I understand if more experience with this type of maintenance work is needed before being granted the permission. If granted, I would use AWB carefully and review each edit before saving. Mascius (talk) 19:49, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Not done Sorry, but I'd like to see you actually create a template before you start adding them to articles. Otherwise this request doesn't make it obvious what kind of navigation templates you're creating - and navboxes and sidebars are far from uncontroversial. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 14:42, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Reconrabbit: The only template creation I've considered is breaking up navboxes that are becoming too long as we turn wikilinks blue. I think that's considered a beneficial act by the linked guideline. I can attempt to do a few manually and see how it goes. Mascius (talk) 13:09, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Maybe I've missed it? I'd like to see at least one of these manual actions before granting AWB access. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 13:38, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hi there, I would like to use AWB to help speed up edits replacing the deprecated |alma_mater= parameter from some infoboxes. Here are some examples of the type of edit I have made manualy, , and here is an example of another user who has used AWB to make these types of edits HaphazardBinBag (talk) 21:26, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply

I already have some experience with making changes using semi-automatic tools (and even my automatic bot) I build myself with PyWikiBot, but it would be a lot easier if I didn't have to write an entire program each time I want to make new edits.

I would use AWB to help me add add navboxes I create to various pages in a category, fix duplicated and deprecated parameters in templates, and test AWB scripts that I may submit BRFAs for as FlammableBot tasks in the future. FlammablePizza (talk) 23:32, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hello! I recently saw this tool pop while looking at my watchlist and I decided I kind of need this. I make articles and heavily expand articles during my pasttime, and sometimes wrong grammar slips by whenever I make/edit these articles. One of the hardest ones to spot are the typos and double letters. I would mostly use the AWB just so I could check the grammar on the articles I've edited and some others as well. This is just so that not another editor has to fix a typo I made for some time ago. If you would like some more information, I would happily oblige. (Here are my edits statistics btw) DoNothingEveryday (talk) 09:08, 5 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I request the use of AWB to perform the following tasks:

  • Add archive-url, archive-date, and url-status to references with dead or substantially changed/deviated URLs, using an appropriate web archive where available.
  • Find duplicate references and consolidate them by replacing repeated full citations with named references (<ref name="..."/>. Miria~01 (talk) 23:02, 9 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hi! I am going to be hosting an edit-a-thon in my school soon, so I would like this permission. Thank you. Entychologist (talk) 17:40, 16 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I am going to host this on 9/17 but I don't have an event page yet. Entychologist (talk) 17:41, 16 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Can you tell me more about what activities you will be doing? I see that you're still finding your feet on Wikipedia, in terms of using reliable sources and notability. I'm leaning against granting this at the moment. What have you learned about text needing citations and what articles meet Wikipedia's inclusion criteria in recent months? In solidarity, —Femke (talk) 🐦 17:57, 16 August 2026 (UTC)reply
During our edit-a-thon, I will give a presentation on what editing on Wikipedia consists of and the best practices for editing. After that, the participants will create their account and create articles in assistance with the librarians at the university I will be hosting it at so their contributions are high quality.
In terms of text citations, I am a probationary Articles for Creation contributor and I believe my recent rejections and acceptances are mostly accurate. I have also participated in articles for deletion. I did have some hiccups in the past (with my draft approval processes) but to gain that role I researched the notability criteria in depth. Also, the vast majority of my contributions do use reliable sources and I have even revamped articles (like Women in Eritrea) to use more reliable sources. My article Women in Rwanda is also a good example of the reliable sources I use. Entychologist (talk) 21:21, 16 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I would make sure you test making accounts at the location before the event starts, irrespective of the decision here. For public places like that, it is possible that account creation is blocked, which means event coordinators cannot do much either. One solution is to have people make their accounts in advance (or for you to make the accounts in advance). I've had a look at women in Eritrea, and I mostly like what I see. When you cite a book, it's important to include page numbers, and include enough information about the book, so people recognize it as a book . How will you make sure that the topics people write about meet notability criteria? Will you make a pre-selection? Is the group sufficiently small you can double check each person's work? In solidarity, —Femke (talk) 🐦 07:36, 17 August 2026 (UTC)reply
We're anticipating around 25 people to show up. Also, this event will be under the guidance of university librarians. I will also give a presentation on notability beforehand. Thank you for the feedback for sources, I'll keep it in mind for the future. Entychologist (talk) 19:21, 17 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Extended confirmed

I am a long time user and reader of Wikipedia, having studied the rules and conversations on the site since I was in elementary school. I would like to request being granted extended confirmed status. While I understand I have not meet the required 500 edits, I believe I can offer nuanced opinions to the site. Most of my previous edits have related to my hometown of Canastota, NY. I am entering my senior year in high school, and feel I have a strong understanding of how Wikipedia works. My respect for the institution and love of the site have led me to making this request. Thank you. Tylerwasanidependent! (talk) 19:58, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply

New page reviewer

Hello! I'm Monathephantom. I've been editing since May 2026, and I've been very familiar with the notablity, and deletion citeria, and I've participated and afd'd multiple articles of my own. As of writing, I have 1,317 edits, and I've helped improve numerous articles, at the moment having a Featured List nomination of List of Undertale concerts

I would love to help out at the New Page Reviewer and i believe i could be a really big help keeping the backlog down. Monathephantom (talk) 12:32, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Monathephantom, could you comment on the {{unreliable sources}} tag added to Casualties: Unknown? signed, Rosguill talk 18:43, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
About the unreliable sources, I used the ones from the WP:VG, so i don't know which unreliable sources they are talking about. The article is one of my earliest works, so i don't really know. Monathephantom (talk) 18:58, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
That's not correct: the article as of the last substantive edit you made (Special:PermaLink/1363770699) includes citations to GAMINGbible and GameFAQs, both of which are listed as unreliable by VG/RS. It also includes citations to GamingOnLinux and IGDB.com, which are not mentioned on VG/RS. I'm also not sure why you're referring to it as one of my earliest works: it is your penultimate article creation, out of four articles total, written only about a month ago. Taken together with the apparent issues with attributing copied content, I'm going to have to mark this  Not done, and am left with a strong impression that you are likely not being forthcoming about the extent of your LLM use here. signed, Rosguill talk 14:07, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Monathephantom Have you used LLMs to assist with article writing? Your article Casualties: Unknown displays WP:AIATTR, and Media of the Maldives shows Wikipedia:AISIGNS#Leads treating Wikipedia lists or broad article titles as proper nouns. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 18:46, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Helpful Raccoon Media of the Maldives contains a snippet from Television in the Maldives, and Casualties Unknown also contains content from it's own wiki which is under CC. Monathephantom (talk) 18:57, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
This doesn't answer the question about LLM usage; both articles contain content that appears to be LLM-generated and isn't copied from anywhere. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 19:21, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
They were copied from Creative Commons sources. Simiarily, I have done the same with Draft:The Roaring Knight. If they appear LLM, then it's probably just because the original author on the original wiki pages used it, so the pages may require cleanup. Monathephantom (talk) 19:27, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
To be clear, the sentences that were not copied from Television in the Maldives are what I saw as LLM-generated in Media of the Maldives. Can you please specify which sources you copied from in Casualties: Unknown? Helpful Raccoon (talk) 20:07, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Here’s the original wiki https://scavprototype.wiki.gg/ Monathephantom (talk) 20:09, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Which specific pages did you copy from, and which text did you write yourself? Most of the text in the Wikipedia article does not appear to be anywhere on the dedicated wiki. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 21:46, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I believe i used one from the gameplay and development parts of the article. Monathephantom (talk) 12:13, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
And if you do copy content, you need to provide attribution by following WP:CWW or WP:COPYOPEN as applicable. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 19:25, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
User has been editing closed XfD discussions (here and here) to reflect results which happened after the respective closures. IMHO, they should not be granted any new flags until they show a better understanding of discussion and deletion procedures, or at least show a rudimentary understanding of the meanings of "closed" and "Please do not modify it.". --Finngall talk 17:06, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Finngall Funny how you say that, when even after you reverted the edits; my AFD match score was 80.0 while yours was much lower at 78.0. Curious. Monathephantom (talk) 18:09, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply
The analysis from this tool is not a useful point of comparison between you and Finngall given the difference in sample size. I'm also going to agree with Rosguill's evaluation above. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 20:13, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
...not to mention that a) it was a complete non-sequitur to the points I had raised, b) describing it as "much" lower is laughable, and c) most of the AfD discussion pages I've created in recent months were completions of nominations by anonymous editors--these are counted as "delete" !votes by the tool even though I rarely offer an opinion of my own one way or the other on these, so they may be skewing the numbers. --Finngall talk 01:19, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
@Monathephantom A straight comparison of AfD match scores is not only irrelevant to what Finngall said, but also not useful for determining one's suitability for the NPP permission, as people can get a fairly high AfD score by !vote-stacking. But even disregarding that, 78% (about 4/5) is not "much" lower than 80% (exactly 4/5) by any means, especially when you've only participated in 24 AfDs (which means that one more missed result would've resulted in a match rate of 76%). I have to agree with my fellow admins that the above comments don't really inspire confidence in your suitability for the NPP permission. Epicgenius (talk) 16:54, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I wanted to renew my New Page Patrol permission however permanently. I have gotten plenty of experience from doing NPP previously. I understand all relevant policies and everything in WP:NPP and appropriate types of deletion for each scenario. I also want to help out with the huge backlog and be able to do this backlog drive and each future backlog drives for NPP. I would also like to point out to the administrator checking I do have experience doing similar types of reviews at pending changes.Wikiediter2029 (talk) Nosey? I have a lot of experience editing Wikipedia and I believe I can contribute significantly in this area. I'm applying for the New pages patrol September 2026 Backlog drive. Governor Sheng (talk) 17:52, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hi @Governor Sheng, thank you for being willing to help in this area. I have some concerns based on your limited AfD participation, with only five instances of participation this year. This discussion doesn't show engagement with our policies at all ("notable" =/= "noteworthy"). Then there are the four list articles about Croatian U21 football results that you created and that were deleted, without any engagement from you on WP:NLIST requirements. Administrators here use AfD participation as a way to assess NPR candidates' understanding of notability, which has lots of nuances and complexities. That said, your more recent article creations do appear to meet notability standards and you do have experience producing Good Articles. I'm going to mark this as  Not done for now, based on understanding of notability expressed through the limited AfD participation. I would invite you to re-apply after building up a stronger track record there. You can also use Twinkle to nominate pages under WP:CSD; your CSD log generated from this will provide more information for a future administrator to evaluate. If you meet the requirements at WP:WPAFC, you can also apply there. Quality AfC reviews reduce the AfC backlog and provide helpful information for new page reviewers looking at those pages, as well as giving administrators more data in your own understanding of notability. Thanks! Dclemens1971 (talk) 19:19, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Ok... Dully noted @Dclemens1971 Governor Sheng (talk) 09:40, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I've been editing for over half of my life, and never knew the bureaucratic aspects, so really I'm playing catch up. My goal as a reviewer would be to help out with the backlog. I've created many new pages and helped out many others. All in all, I want to continue to help in many ways officially. Eranrexiv (talk) 19:47, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Welcome to the project's back rooms, @Eranrexiv. Can you comment on what makes Eric A. Hurley notable? And why Warren Carter's Instagram feed is a reliable source for Carl Jones' birth date? I have to look at article creation because there's no evidence here of participation at WP:AFD, WP:CSD, or WP:WPAFC, which are the primary ways potential reviewers can demonstrate their knowledge of applicable policies and guidelines. Hi @Axolitl! I looked through several of your patrols. A lot of them appeared to be reviews of a page that had been blanked and then restored -- valuable to have reviewed but requiring not quite the same skills as review of a page that has not had any review before. Overall, though, I think your reviews are pretty solid. I had a question about EBAN, though, which you marked reviewed on 14 August a day after it was undeleted, and I am surprised to see it marked as reviewed with so many of the sources being its own webpages and so many sections without any sources at all. Is there a reason this should have been reviewed that might not be apparent to an outsider observer? Dclemens1971 (talk) 20:50, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Hm, I don't remember reviewing this very well, so I'm not sure what caused me to mark it as reviewed. However, looking at it now, I'm not as certain it is notable. I have marked it as unreviewed now, and would like someone else to have a look at it. Apologies for any issues this may have caused. I'll see if I remember why I marked it as reviewed, but otherwise this was just a lapse in my judgement. Axolitl (talk | contribs) 22:37, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply

For reviewing new pages :p – Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 16:40, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Thanks for applying, @Closed Limelike Curves. Your track record at AfD is quite thin, with only six !votes or nominations in 2025 and 2026, and at least one of them (Jason Strauss you suggest sources that does not indicate a strong understanding of WP:GNG-qualifying sourcing. Looking at new article creation (as a way of assessing understanding of article quality, sourcing and notability standards), there are only three articles created in the past two years. Looking at them closely, 2026 OpenAI agent cyberattacks includes an WP:ARXIV paper, other self-published sources, and a substantial volume of primary sources. One is a redirect from an internet misspelling that triggered a discussion at RfD. The third had a template placed on it for an essay-like quality, although it looks like you've improved it. Looking back beyond two years, I see a dab page and an article that is missing citations and tagged for notability. I'm going to mark this as  Not done for now, but please consider spending more time as a participant at AfD; a stronger AfD track record can help us assess a future request for this permission. Thank you! Dclemens1971 (talk) 01:34, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hi @Allan Nonymous, thanks for volunteering! You mentioned AfC experience, but I don't see any AfC reviews in your log or see your name on the list of participants. Can you point me to your AfC activity? Your AfD activity is overall pretty good, although I'm concerned by certain !votes (like accepting "prima facie" sources in a topic area where sources need more rigorous analysis. New article creation is limited to two stubs so nothing to evaluate there. Dclemens1971 (talk) 13:54, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Oh, sorry, I meant to say article creation not AFC review but I only meant it in a very minimal way in that I have familiarity with article policy, which is why I qualified it. Sorry that that gave the wrong impression. The AfD on prima facie (i.e. at first glance) evidence was, to an extent correct, and I want to give a round of applause to User:Jeraxmoira for the good work he did digging into the sources, and discovering the issues with the sources in question. Page mover

I am requesting the Page mover right for this account. I am an alternative account of Cptabhiimanyuseven, and my main account already has the page mover right, New Page Patrol permissions, and other advanced privileges. These permissions helps me to move newly created pages that are not yet ready for publishing in the main namespace, as well as review new articles. I also regularly participate in Articles for Creation draft reviewing. I understand and follow the policies and guidelines related to page moving, and I believe my main account's contributions demonstrate my experience with these processes. If an administrator is satisfied with my contributions and experience, I would appreciate it if the page mover right could be granted to this account as well. @Kj cheetham: Hello there. I understand that my main account already has Page mover privileges, but I am requesting the same privilege for this account because I need to move pages to the Draft namespace without leaving redirects. This would grant me to carry out such moves more efficiently and without unnecessary issues.
Some editors create new articles directly in the mainspace even when the articles are incomplete or clearly not ready for acceptance. This creates additional work for New Page Patrol (NPP), as these pages need to be reviewed and, where appropriate, draftified in accordance with WP:DRAFTIFY.
I am requesting the Page mover permission so that I can help move such articles to the Draft namespace without leaving unnecessary redirects. This would also avoid the need to tag the resulting redirect for deletion or nominate it under R2 when the redirect is not useful.
I believe this permission would grant me to assist with NPP more efficiently while following the relevant policies and guidelines.RΣGΔRDS, ΔGΣΠT ∇IRΔJ (TΔLҜ / CΩΠTRI) 10:20, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I have left a comment about identifying alternative accounts at User talk:JBW#Sockpuppets, but more generally in terms of how to speak about an alternative account on Wikipedia, I would recommend "This is an alternative account" over "I am an alternative account" when speaking about this relationship. I am requesting page mover permissions for a very specific situation that I run into: I believe it is essentially never beneficial to not leave behind a redirect when moving a page (that is, I believe it is essentially always beneficial to leave one behind). However, the one exception to this is in cleaning up page move vandalism. I would like page move permissions to be able to revert moving vandalism without leaving a redirect behind, per WP:PMRC#1. ~ oklopfer (💬︎) 16:12, 28 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Pending changes reviewer

I am requesting the pending changes reviewer permission to assist with maintaining the quality of articles on English Wikipedia. I am also active in patrolling edits in the mainspace. I am familiar with the reviewing guidelines and understand that edits should not be accepted if they contain vandalism, violate the biographies of living persons policy, or include legal threats or personal attacks. Rollback

I've recently been using SWViewer and Twinkle to revert vandalism, so this permission would be very useful for me. I'm already very familiar with how it works, as I already have this permission on other Wikimedia projects. -- 🐦‍🔥 Aws 💬 Talk 14:23, 12 July 2026 (UTC)reply

(Non-administrator comment) Hi @أوس, looking through your contributions history, I do have some concerns that you're not meeting #4 of the criteria: A track record of consistently notifying editors when reverting their edits. You've only ever made five edits to User Talk pages (excluding your own), some of your reverts are to edits that aren't obvious vandalism (without explaining in the edit summary, e.g. Special:Diff/1363794858), and you recently reported an editor to AIV without posting to their talk page first (which remains a redlink). In solidarity, nil nz 03:57, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
Not done You're not appropriately warning or reporting vandalism. Two edits to AIV and five edits to the entire user talk space is not sufficient to establish a need for rollback. Katietalk 20:01, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I would like to request Rollback permissions firstly in order to make use of tools like Huggle & AntiVandal. Secondly rollback permissions will allow me to increase the speed of my workflow as most of it consists of RC patrolling edits by unregistered & new accounts. My contribution history demonstrates that I have multiple months of RC Patrol experience and no history of edit warring. At the time of writing this I have 656 live edits of which 220 are in the Main namespace and 262 are in the User Talk namespace, this shows my track record of consistently notifying editors when reverting their edits. Vydrakk (talk) 10:03, 15 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Not done You might be warning but you're not consistently reporting to AIV. Also, you don't need more speed in your workflow. You reported this temp IP to AIV just days ago; their edits are not vandalism, and if you can't recognize that, you don't need rollback yet. Katietalk 20:16, 27 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I see, maybe I misunderstood when I was interpreting those edits as gaming. After looking at your user page I think the more likely explanation is you are very proud of the american national identity and want to promote the use of American English. Czarking0 (talk) 04:06, 12 August 2026 (UTC)reply

(Non-administrator comment) Are you able to elaborate on how Rollback will help you in these situations? I'm not seeing a history of recent changes patrolling, but rather it appears you're requesting rollback to revert edits on pages on your watchlist; in such cases, Twinkle or manually reverting should be more than effective. Articles are often subjected to persistent vandalism by unregistered IP users or even newly registered users. Such edits are frequently spotted while patrolling recent changes.  Not done. Although you have made a lot of edits, I don't see any experience in your edit history of patrolling recent changes. For example, it looks like you've only used the "undo" button three times, two of which were to revert yourself . I recommend gaining more experience reverting and warning vandals with Twinkle, and then request this permission again after you demonstrate more experience. I have done a lot of anti-vandalism work in recent weeks but have been frustrated by my inability to be able to restore a previous version due to conflicting errors after vandalism.

I consistently notify users and reply to their messages, and try to assist them and tell them what they have done wrong.

I understand the uses of this tool and how it is not for content disputes, and I would use this tool responsibly.

Rollback rights for counter-vandalism editing. Contributions speak for themself Czarking0 (talk) 04:44, 11 August 2026 (UTC)reply

(Non-administrator comment) @Czarking0, you're (obviously) a productive and prolific editor. Rollback is usually provided for people who have extensive recent experience with RCP and antivandalism work specifically. If your request isn't acted on here it might be worth it to patrol the recent changes feed for a few weeks, reverting & warning using Twinkle or similar. TonySt  15:59, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply
I'm not sure how helpful rollback would be; in most cases, Czarking0, your reverts (undos) include explanation to editors as to why they are being reverted. Rollback is one-click and doesn't give you the opportunity to explain yourself (barring batch-rollback) as it's most often reserved for obviously bad edits or vandalism. I do recognize that you notify reverted editors often.. forgive me for leaving this to another admin. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 19:53, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hello, I would like to gain auto rollback rights. I have over 500 edits total, with well over 200 edits on mainspace pages. I have a history of reverting edits from vandalism, especially on pages, such as human height by country, and also have general experience reverting unproductive edits in general, not necessarily vandalism or not bad faith, from the recent changes page. I have a history of contributing to discussions through either talk pages on articles or user talk pages to alert them or to have discussions over edits that were made. If I were to be granted rollback rights I understand the responsibility involved, and I believe my edit history shows me to be a responsible user that has a history of reverting bad edits and vandalism, and operating in good faith on my own part, as well as being able to understand other perspectives and form consensus. Thank you I believe these rights would greatly benefit my account in order to rollback unproductive edits and vandalism. Quantum Mechanical Engineer (talk) 00:11, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply
