Announcing the Xubuntu Anniversary Wallpaper Contests (yes, plural)!

Xubuntu 26.04, releasing in April, marks 20 years of Xubuntu as an official flavor. Time flies!

First, we're opening up a community wallpaper contest. Six images will be selected and included in 26.04, and the winners will receive Xubuntu stickers.

Second, we are asking the community to select two past wallpapers to be remixed for 26.04. Pick your favorites!

Thanks for 20 years of support!

Only 2 days remain before submissions close!

Only 15 wallpapers have been submitted by the community. Do you have any images you'd like to enter?

discourse.ubuntu.com/t/xubuntu…

On the wallpaper remix side, the most votes any wallpaper has is 5. That's a very small number to decide a winner.

Keep them coming!

So, I'm thinking of 3D printing a coin for the 20th anniversary of #Xubuntu :xubuntu:

But my CAD skills aren't where they need to be yet, I've tried!

Thinking the icon.svg on the front (via github.com/Xubuntu/xubuntu-mar…)

And on the back, the words:

"Xubuntu
20
Years"

The mouse and words should be raised and I'll be printing them in one color, the rest of the coin is another color. My printed does multicolor prints.

Anyone want to have a go? You'll get credit!

Finally, the weekend. A time to relax and catch up. ☺️

Have you voted on your favorite past Xubuntu wallpapers yet? We'll be remaking two winners for 26.04.

Have any creative works you'd like to submit for the Xubuntu wallpaper contest? Win, and you'll get some :xubuntu: stickers.

March 4th will be here before you know it. Help shape the next release of Xubuntu!

Currently testing @xubuntu 24.04.4. No surprises; things are working just fine. Users running 24.04 already have the latest updates.

Xubuntu shares the same foundational updates found in Ubuntu 24.04.4, including the 6.17 kernel. @omgubuntu does a fantastic job (as always) reporting on the updated kernel versions: omgubuntu.co.uk/2026/01/ubuntu…

Look forward to a slew of 24.04.4 updates tomorrow.

*Lightweight :xubuntu: @xubuntu update*

Yesterday's elementary-xfce 0.22 [1] resolves some of the more visible (less visible?) bugs found in Xubuntu 25.10: The missing window close icons and scanner options have been restored.

Elsewhere, the main Flatpak issues reported at release have been resolved, but issues with AppArmor persist in 26.04 [2].

Slowly but surely, Xubuntu is heading toward a stable LTS release in April.

Xubuntu's website was compromised in October, with torrent links replaced by a ZIP containing Windows malware.

Now, the team share a report on how the breach was able to happen - and what they're doing to prevent a repeat.
