How to talk to your kids about what’s going on in Iran

As war with Iran escalates, parents may be struggling to decide whether they should talk to their children about the events unfolding.

It can be tough to figure out how much a child should know if at all. Behavioral pediatricians shared why it may be good for parents to talk with their children about the war and what they should consider when approaching the conversation.

“The idea is not to share everything,” said Dr. David Schonfeld, the director of the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “The idea is to let them know you are a safe person and a person who will help them understand things they wish to understand.”
