The UCLA School of Medicine has been awarded two grants totaling $55,000 for diabetes research.

An award of $30,000 from the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and $25,000 from the American Diabetes Assn. will be used for research on blindness and other complications from diabetes.

The research is being conducted by Dr. Solomon A. Kaplan, chief of the division of endocrinology and metabolism at the UCLA department of pediatrics.
