Powell Makes Excellent Progress After Surgery

WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Justice Lewis F. Powell Jr., was reported in goodcondition and good spirits Saturday after surgery for prostate cancer.
“He’s in good condition and his progress is excellent,” said Tracey Torez, a spokesman for the Mayo Clinic, affiliated with the Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., where Powell is recuperating. “He’s in good humor.”
