Wachs Won’t Run for City Atty.

Los Angeles City Councilman Joel Wachs, 45, today ended months of speculation by announcing that he will not run this spring for the open city attorney’s seat. The decision by Wachs, who is in his third council term, leaves three other prominent lawyers as likely candidates for the nonpartisan post: Lisa Specht, Murray Kane and City Controller James Hahn. The city attorney’s post has been open since Ira Reiner took office as district attorney last month.
