Firm Denies Exporting Jet Parts to Iran Go-Between

An Elgie Corp. attorney has denied U.S. Customs Service allegations that the company has made unlicensed exports of spare parts for the F-4 Phantom jet, including two shipments to a London company that customs agents described as a go-between for the Iranian government.

The allegation, first revealed Sunday, was made in November in Los Angeles federal court by the Customs Service as grounds for a warrant to search Elgie’s Camarillo plant.

Attorney Charles C. Brown, representing Utah-based Elgie, said Monday that company officials had no idea the London firm was suspected of buying for Iran.
