A judge divided part of Arco’s antitrust payment.

U.S. District Court Judge William Gray said $2.4 million of $22.5 million that Atlantic Richfield Co. agreed to pay in settling antitrust charges will be divided among local government agencies. The bulk of the money has gone into the State Tideland Fund. Arco reached an out-of-court settlement to charges that it conspired with other oil companies to undervalue crude oil produced from Long Beach tidelands, thus keeping royalty payments to the state lower than they otherwise would have been. Similar charges against six other oil producers are pending.
