EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — American indoor record holder Carol Lewis of the United States and Olympic silver medalist Vali Ionescu of Romania will head the field for the women’s long jump in the Vitalis-U.S. Olympic Invitational track and field meet Feb. 9 at the Meadowlands Arena.
Lewis, brother of Carl Lewis, winner of four Olympic gold medals, set the American indoor mark of 22 feet, 2 inches last year. Ionescu’s best indoor jump is 22-8, third best in history.
Also in the field will be Jennifer Inniss, a native of Guyana now living in the United States. She won the 1982 NCAA outdoor title while at Cal State Los Angeles.
