Dollar Peaks Again in Europe

LONDON — The dollar surged to new peaks early today against the currencies of Italy, France and Norway in foreign exchange trading in Europe.
Mid-morning dollar rates in Europe compared with late levels Tuesday included: 3.2210 West German marks, up from 3.2180; 2.7350 Swiss francs, down from 2.7352; 9.8340 French francs, up from a record 9.8265; 3.6462 Dutch guilders, up from 3.6450; 1,980.50 Italian lire, up from a record 1,978.50; 9.2850 Norwegian kroner, up from a record 9.2770, and 1.33335 Canadian dollars, down from 1.3345.
