Swiftsure III Wins Race to Cabo San Lucas

Swiftsure III, owned by Nick Frazee of San Diego Yacht Club, and skippered by his brother, Bob, used a fast finish Wednesday to win line honors in the 790-mile Newport-to- Cabo San Lucas race.

Swiftsure crossed the finish line at 4:55 a.m. (PST) with an elapsed time record of 3 days 16 hours 55 minutes. She finished about 45 minutes ahead of Blondie, the Santa Cruz-70 which had been claiming the lead since the start of the race.
