Illness While Abroad

Dr. Neumann’s article, “Take Steps to Prevent Illness While Abroad” (March 24), was well-written, especially his advice to obtain current information regarding recommended and required immunizations prior to travel abroad. However, contrary to the impression given in the article, vaccinations for foreign travel are no longer available through county health departments, leaving international travelers to rely on their private physicians for this service.

Approximately two years ago our medical group began developing a comprehensive Travelers Immunization Clinic. Our clinic now serves international travelers throughout the South Bay area.
