Americans Resume Duty in S. Lebanon

JERUSALEM — Most of the Americans attached to a U.N. peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, withdrawn two months ago for fear of terrorist attacks, have resumed their duties, according to a U.N. spokesman.
The spokesman, Timor Goksel, said Friday that “most” of the 33 Americans with the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon, or UNIFIL, resumed work two weeks ago.
The Americans--16 military observers and 17 civilian employees--live in northern Israel and commute to UNIFIL’s headquarters in Naqoura.
