While the subject of merciless editing (of motion pictures on television, for example) is so popular (Calendar Letters, May 12), let’s talk about the cruelest butchers of all--the editors of the Calendar Letters Page!

I wrote a letter a few weeks ago about how hit songs promote movies and it was edited into an out-and-out attack on the Academy Awards telecast!

We must stop this senseless slaughter of innocent letters. Millions of words are at stake! Of course, you’ll probably edit this letter into one touting the. . . .
