6 State School Districts Get Asbestos Aid

Six California school districts will receive $262,000 in grants and interest-free loans for abatement of cancer-causing asbestos in insulation and other building materials, the Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday.
The Los Angeles Unified School District, which sought more than $2.4 million for corrective work in 65 schools, was not on the list.
Three Southern California districts--Bassett Unified School District in La Puente, Brea-Olinda Unified School District in Brea and Rim of the World Unified School District in Lake Arrowhead--will receive about $108,000.
Nationally, $45 million is going to 341 of the 4,800 schools that sought help. The Reagan Administration opposes further funding.
