5 Workers Injured by Dow Herbicide to Share $1.4 Million

BEAUMONT, Tex. — Five chemical workers who said their nervous systems were damaged by a herbicide made by Dow Chemical Co. will share $1.4 million in compensation from Dow and three other companies.
A federal court Friday ordered Dow to pay $824,000 in damages to three of the five workers. In addition, all five will share $600,000 that the other three companies agreed to pay in an out-of-court settlement.
The men worked with components of the defoliant Agent Orange, which was used in the Vietnam War.
