Bible Giveaway Banned in Iowa Public Schools

DES MOINES, Iowa — Gideons International has agreed to stop handing out Bibles in Iowa public school classrooms after a state injunction barring the practice for violating separation of church and state.
Cryss Farley, executive director of the Iowa Civil Liberties Union, said Tuesday that the injunction is the first of its kind in the nation.
