These Los Angeles Summer Games Are for Locals Only

More than 9,000 high school athletes from the Los Angeles area will begin competition this morning in 12 sports as the L.A. Games get underway at 16 area locations.

Formerly the Watts Summer Games, the events are scheduled in tournament form. They include basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, softball, tennis, water polo, swimming, gymnastics, wrestling and track and field.

This year, baseball has been added to the competition and that portion of the games begins at 8:30 a.m. with City 4-A champion Kennedy hosting Montebello at Kennedy.
