Too many high school and college students are being trained for “non-existent jobs” in overcrowded fields such as public relations, sales and marketing, an advisory council said in a report to President Reagan. The Intergovernmental Advisory Council on Education urged the government to create a computerized data system to track the job market’s needs--such as for data processors, engineers and drafters--and to inform teachers and students of the skills required to fill them.
