Seconding Gov. George Deukmejian’s recommendation, Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.) urged President Reagan to declare five more California counties disaster areas due to brush-fire damage. Wilson said that Ventura, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties should join Los Angeles and San Diego counties in the disaster category so that fire victims can obtain federal aid. Deukmejian made a similar request Tuesday. Fires have blackened more than 375,000 acres and caused more than $64.8 million in damage statewide. The disaster area designation allows victims to apply for individual and family assistance through the federal Emergency Management Agency.
