Reagan Signs Contra Aid Bill

President Reagan has signed legislation that starts the flow of $27 million in aid to the rebels fighting the leftist government of Nicaragua.

In a statement issued by his press office here, the vacationing President called the aid “modest” but went on to laud Congress for showing “bipartisan support . . . for those fighting the Sandinista dictatorship.”
