IRA Says It Murdered Contractor in Dublin

United Press International

The Irish Republican Army said Wednesday that it was responsible for the murder of a wealthy building contractor who it accused of building barracks and police posts for British security forces.

Seamus McEvoy, 46, a building contractor, was found dead Tuesday in his Dublin, Ireland, home with two bullet wounds in the back.

A statement issued by the organization’s publicity bureau in Dublin said that McEvoy, originally from Northern Ireland, had been repeatedly warned against doing work for the security forces but continued to supply materials and temporary huts for barracks and military border posts.
