Mayors Urge Japan to Open Markets to U.S.

West Coast mayors and business leaders urged Japan Saturday to open its markets and expressed concern that rising protectionist sentiment in this country could result in economic hardship.

A resolution adopted at the closing session of the Japan-American Conference of Mayors and Chamber of Commerce Presidents expressed strong support for a continued open market between Japan and the United States.
