Bottled Up

I got a bit of a kick out of the Sept. 22 letter from Susan Leslie Smith, dealing with a tip from Betty Lukas regarding the advisability of carrying a flask while traveling. Ms. Smith’s objections seemed to be centered on the morality (?) of the matter rather than the stark practicality. Everyone knows that America bourbon is the standard antidote for snakebite, so prevalent among travelers either at the Louvre or at Stonehenge. Neither I nor the late W.C. Fields would ever have been caught abroad without a full flask.. The odd hours of the English pub alone dictate such a wise precaution.
