Fly-Casting Waters

In Bob Whitaker’s “Casting Your Fishing Luck on Waters in Britain” (Sept. 22) he makes a special point of casting on inexpensive public waters. All well and good, except, generally speaking, the same situation exists on British waters as it does on public water anywhere in the world: overcrowded streams and lakes, and small fish at best.

To prove my point, he included a photograph of “Middleton beat on the storied Test.” Could it be that Whitaker got fed up with unproductive public water and finally parted with the $65 a day fee needed to fish a quality stream?
