The board of directors of Jack Eckerd Corp. unanimously approved the previously reported $1.6-billion takeover of the drugstore chain by an investor group that includes Eckerd management and employees . . . Newhall Resources increased its regular quarterly cash dividend to 20 cents per partnership unit, from 18 cents, payable Dec. 2, to partners of record Oct. 25.
