Spokesmen for the cities of Anchorage, Alaska, and Birmingham, England, the final two candidates bidding for the1992 Olympic Games to be heard, expressed confidence after their presentations at a meeting of the International Olympic Committee in Lisbon, Portugal.

Cities besides Birmingham that have bid for the Summer Games are Paris; Barcelona, Spain; Amsterdam; New Delhi; Brisbane, Australia, and Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Bidding for the ’92 Winter Games besides Anchorage, are Albertville, France; Berchtesgaden, West Germany; Cortina, Italy; Falun, Sweden; Lillehammer, Norway, and Sofia, Bulgaria.

Final presentations are scheduled next year at Lausanne, Switzerland, and the IOC will announce the 1992 Olympic sites on Oct. 17, 1986.
