WASHINGTON — Rep. Bobbi Fiedler (R-Northridge), whose political career got into gear fighting forced busing in the Los Angeles Unified School District, asked U.S. Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III today to intervene in the revived school desegregation case.
The Supreme Court’s refusal Monday to review a U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in an NAACP lawsuit against the school district cleared the way for the group to take the case to federal court, probably in mid-February, and try to prove that the school district has illegally discriminated against blacks.
