More than 600 notices of intent to sue the seaway authority have been filed since a lock wall collapsed and caused a three-week traffic jam on the waterway, a lawyer for the seaway said. The notices were filed by businesses with investments in the ships, or in the cargo on board the vessels, stalled by a collapsed wall in Lock 7 of the Welland Canal, lawyer Norman Willens said. “They may sue us at a later date once they review their options and their financial situations,” Willens said. The seaway was reopened last week.
