DAMASCUS, Syria — Jordan’s Prime Minister Zaid Rifai, saying the path was clear for a restoration of relations with Syria, held talks in Damascus today to pave the way for a summit between King Hussein of Jordan and Syrian President Hafez Assad.
State-run Damascus radio said Rifai held a two-hour meeting with his Syrian counterpart Abdel-Raouf Kasm on ways to end years of open hostility between the Arab neighbors, both of which border on Israel.
