The television ratings for Miami’s 38-24 victory over the previously unbeaten Chicago Bears were the highest ever for a Monday night football game, ABC announced.
The national rating was 29.6, with a 46 share. The network said an estimated 70 million people watched all or part of the game. Monday night’s numbers surpassed the 26.8 rating and 43 share on Oct. 2, 1978, for a Washington-Dallas game.
