Fog Forces Restrictions for Seattle Air Travelers

SEATTLE — Thick fog continued to plague Christmas travelers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, reducing air traffic and forcing Sen. Edward M. Kennedy to cancel a visit Sunday.
Fog lifted somewhat in the afternoon, and visibility increased to about a mile, allowing fewer than a dozen planes to land and take off by mid-afternoon. However, more fog was expected, airport officials said.
Kennedy had been scheduled to land at Sea-Tac on Saturday night, but his chartered plane was diverted to Portland, Ore. On Sunday, the Massachusetts Democrat’s flight again was unable to land.
