Japan Launches Satellite

Japan launched its second broadcast satellite Wednesday from its space center on the island of Kyushu. The 770-pound satellite was sent toward a geostationary orbit 22,500 miles above the Earth. It will be used to transmit high quality television signals to remote regions of Japan.
