It had to happen: the first film society devoted exclusively to trash movies.

The Psychotronic Film Society-- psycho from horror, tronic from science fiction--gathers weekly in Chicago to see slice-and-dice horror movies, cheapie Japanese animation and other low-grade items so bad they’re good.

There are even in-person “tributes”: Del Close appeared with “Son of the Blob” (he starred), and “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’s” John Dugan was another favorite (he played Grandpa).

Society prez Michael Flores refuses to see serious films like “Ordinary People” and “Out of Africa.” He boycotted “The Color Purple” because “it’s a feminist film.”

His Oscar choices this year: “Re-Animator,” “Day of the Dead” and “Rambo.”
