Mt. St. Mary’s Plans Move to Division I

EMMITSBURG, Md. — Mount St. Mary’s College plans to change its NCAA status to Division I by the 1988-89 school year.
President Robert J. Wickenheiser announced last week that the school’s 16 varsity athletic teams, including its nationally ranked men’s and women’s basketball squads, will continue to compete in NCAA Division II for the next two years before joining the Division I ranks in the fall of 1988.
