San Diego

A raw sewage spill into Mission Bay on Friday prompted San Diego County health officials to quarantine an estimated 1,000 yards of beach until further notice, said an officer with the Mission Bay Harbor Patrol.

The closure was expected to extend through the weekend.

Officer Dorothy Eckman said the County Health Services Department closed a stretch of beach from South Crown Shores in the eastern quadrant of the bay to the wildlife refuge area just south of Campland.
