Early Wins Event at Diving Meet

Brian Early was the only Orange County winner Thursday in the Southern California Open and Regional Junior Age Group Olympics at the Mission Viejo International Diving Complex. Early, a member of the Mission Viejo Nadadores, won the 13-14 boys’ division three-meter springboard diving competition. Joe Dunkley, also of the Nadadores, finished eighth.

Barrett Johnson of Irvine finished second in the boys’ 10-and-under three-meter diving and Matthew Wetherbee finished sixth. Chris Vonk finished second in the 11-12 boys’ division for three-meter diving.

The top Orange County girls’ finisher was Joy Burkholder of the Nadadores, who finished third in the 11-12 one-meter springboard competition.
