Crews in Boone, Iowa, salvaged cookies, skis, chemicals and other goods after the middle 16 cars of a freight train were blown off a bridge in a storm and plunged 185 feet into a river valley. Only small amounts of hazardous chemicals leaked into the Des Moines River, environmental officials said. Chicago & North Western Transportation Co. said it hoped to restore service on one track of the main east-west line by today.
