Safeway Stores, Oakland, named Ronald F. Zachary senior vice president and executive officer, succeeding John L. Repass, a 30-year veteran of the company, who resigned from his post as senior vice president-human resources.

Zachary, who joined Safeway in 1958 as a food clerk, had been a vice president since 1978.
