White Consolidated Forms New Compressor Division

CLEVELAND — White Consolidated Industries Inc. has formed a new division to make and market compressors and motors for other appliance companies, White announced recently.

The new company combines the Americold Compressor Co. and Athens Products Co. with headquarters to be in Cullman, Ala. The division’s manufacturing operations are in Cullman and in Athens, Tenn.

Americold makes high-efficiency hermetic compressors for home refrigeration and traditionally has sold only to White Consolidated appliance divisions. Athens Products makes a wide variety of hermetic motors, about half of which are sold to other companies.
