That was a beautiful piece Jerry did for The Times. “Dear Nancy” belongs with the letter to Virginia, a real classic. How well he expressed what all of us who love travel feel about it: anticipation and curiosity about strange places, excitement of the possibility of a new adventure and another batch of memories to take out when the going gets dull.
