Roman Catholic Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen will be admitted to a hospital for extensive tests of an undisclosed nature, a spokesman for the Seattle archdiocese said. Hunthausen, 65, was scheduled to enter Providence Medical Center for a two-day stay. Last August, Hunthausen turned over authority in five key pastoral areas to Auxiliary Bishop Donald Wuerl in response to a Vatican crackdown on his stands on some moral issues.
