A special meeting at which company shareholders were to vote on a takeover bid from Canadian real estate developer Campeau Corp. was adjourned for one day, the companies said. The adjournment until today was necessary so that documents on the acquisition of the big New York retailer could be completed, Campeau said. Commitments for financing the acquisition already have been obtained, according to Toronto-based Campeau, which said it expects the merger to become effective next Tuesday. Allied Stores operates, among other retailers, Brooks Brothers, Jordan Marsh and Ann Taylor.
