Medical authorities in Augusta, Ga., searched for a heart to replace one mistakenly transplanted into a millworker whose blood did not match that of the donor. Major Wright, 37, of Sylvania, Ga., was in critical but stable condition. Meanwhile, his name is on a 24-hour alert computer, which is being used to find another heart, a hospital spokesman said. Officials at the Medical College of Georgia, which supplied the heart, said they do not know if someone made a mistake in checking the heart or if their Organ Procurement Program’s evaluation process is flawed.
