Philippine Troops Capture 5 Sought After Failed Coup

MANILA — Government troops Saturday raided a farm reportedly owned by a son-in-law of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos and captured five fugitives from last week’s abortive coup, a military spokesman said.
Col. Honesto Isleta said the five were from a force of about 50 mutineers holed up at Paradise Farm in Novaliches, on the outskirts of Manila. The others escaped, leaving behind weapons and other equipment, he said.
According to the spokesman, 200 to 300 soldiers remain unaccounted for after Tuesday’s rebellion against the government of President Corazon Aquino.
