Orange County College Tennis : UCI Men’s Team Loses Lead, Match

After winning the first two singles matches, the UC Irvine men’s tennis team lost the next four singles and two of the three doubles matches to lose, 6-3, to Georgia Tech Tuesday afternoon in nonconference action at UC Irvine.
UCI’s Mark Kaplin improved to 13-3 as he defeated Kenny Throne, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5. Throne was ranked 17th in the nation.
Trevor Kronemann defeated Bryan Shelton, 6-2, 6-2, for the other singles victory for the Anteaters (3-2).
In other action:
Christ College Irvine 5, Whitter 4--The No. 2 doubles team of Jim Violette and Phil Duerr defeated Whittier’s Kevin Osborn and Rammell Nacino, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, to clinch the Eagles’ 5-4 nonconference victory at Whittier.
In women’s action:
Whittier 7, Christ College, Irvine 2--Deanne Tegtmier defeated Shelli Oye, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, and the doubles team of Kris Barthel and Connie Stelmachowiz defeated Judy Francis and Jean Ettinger, 6-2, 6-2, for the Eagles’ victories at Whittier.
