The BBC bought the outerwear after executives decided that brightly patterned ties on newsreaders were “inappropriate” for such stories. That decision came during a rehearsal for a show to be aired upon the death of the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth--who, at 87, continues to enjoy good health.
